Château Plagne – Your retreat in the heart of the Dordogne Valley

Château Plagne – A place to dream and enjoy

Tucked away in the idyllic hamlet of Plagne, where time seems to move a little slower, stands Château Plagne – a historic estate built between 1600 and 1720.

Its walls have witnessed centuries of history: from the Bonnevals, a distant branch of the House of Navarre – from which King Henry IV also descended – to the current owners, the Schriever family, who have lovingly brought the château back to life since 1998.

Even today, impressive relics preserve the memory of the wine-growing tradition: a monumental lever wine press from 1799 and a unique vaulted cellar that was once home to barrels and now serves as a stage for art, culinary delights and magical encounters.

A refuge for the present

Château Plagne is much more than a piece of history – it is a place to pause. The view over the Dordogne valley, tranquil gardens, spacious rooms and inspiring tranquillity create a refuge where both soul and spirit can recharge their batteries.

Just a few minutes away is the charming little town of Bétaille with its small stores, fragrant bakery, butcher and weekly market – ideal for experiencing authentic French savoir-vivre.

Château Plagne –
More than just accommodation

Those who stay here not only take home memories, but also a piece of their lifestyle. Château Plagne aims to be both a retreat and a source of inspiration for its guests: a place full of warmth, relaxation and enjoyment.

History, nature and the French way of life merge here to create an experience that touches the heart and creates lasting memories.

The culinary
offer

Achim Schriever’s refined regional cuisine thrives on freshness and quality. Many ingredients come directly from our own garden or from farmers and producers in the surrounding area.

Your day begins with a hearty breakfast – in the garden or in the lounge, depending on the season. In the evening, you can look forward to a fine menu with selected wines on request and by arrangement.

When you stay in our vacation homes, you have the choice: prepare your own meals in your own kitchen – or let yourself be spoiled by our culinary offerings in the Château.
